Furman Golf Club

The Furman Golf Club was named the No. 1 public golf course in Greenville and across the state by the South Carolina Golf Ratings Panel. It was ranked among the Best Campus Courses by Golfweek and received a 3.5 star rating from Golf Digest in 2016. The course underwent a major renovation in 2008 that saw all 18 green fields rebuilt and seeded again with Champion UltraDwarf Bermudagrass grass. A new long-term plan implemented in 2010 led to a new practice facility for Furman golf teams, improved public practice facilities, new tees for players of all skill levels, bunker improvements, renewed cart paths and improvements at the clubhouse, and irrigation and drainage systems.

Format and schedule

The Furman Intercollegiate is a three-day event with teams playing 18 holes a day. All teams will leave hole one on Friday (March 26) and Saturday (March 27) before ending the game with a 9am shotgun game on Sunday (March 28). High Point will start at 9am on Friday, playing the first round with Furman and FGCU.

Last time out

The Panthers came in sixth at the Linger Longer Invitational, organized by the state of Kennesaw, from March 12 to 14. HPU used their best round of the tournament and the fifth best round of the day on Sunday to climb four positions to sixth, the second best climb of any team in the tournament on the final day.

Another Top-10 Final for Einstein
Brandon Einstein finished fourth in the top 10 in six events this year, overtaking the Panthers by three in a ninth place division. He fired two even-pair rounds before carding a -3, 69, in the final round. Einstein caught 10 birdies at the event to raise his career total to 226, five far from moving to fourth place on the HPU career leaderboard.

Next: High Point has yet another event scheduled before the Big South Championships, as the Panthers will head to Fort Myers, Florida, April 12-13 for the Old Corkscrew Intercollegiate, before the conference championships begin the following weekend.
