Palmetto Golf Club
The Palmetto Golf Club is located in Aiken, SC and is 20 miles east of the Augusta National Golf Course. The par 71 field plays 6,713 yards of championship tees. The course was initially opened in 1892 as a four-hole course, which was soon extended to nine holes. The course was expanded to 18 holes in 1895 and is the second oldest golf course in the country.
Format and schedule
The tournament will take place over two days, starting with a shotgun at 8 am on Monday (March 8). Golfers will play 36 holes on Monday and end with the final round on Tuesday (Mach. 9). Five players from each team will play, with the first four scores counting towards the team total.
Last time out
High Point took fourth place at the Pinnacle Bank Intercollegiate, three strokes behind the third. Three golfers finished in the top 25, led by Einstein as a co-medalist.
Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner
Einstein’s victory was the second of the season and his career. He became only the fifth golfer in the program’s history to win several events in the same season.
Playing in the state of Palmetto
HPU is playing its fourth consecutive tournament in South Carolina, the longest event period in the same state since playing four consecutive events in South Carolina during the 2017-18 winter break.
Next: High Point has a quick turnaround for its next tournament this weekend, (March 12-14), when the Panthers compete at the Linger Longer Invitational in Eatonton, Georgia.
