The Panthers cut several players this month, creating a limit space that they would love to spend at Deshaun Watson.
Carolina’s moves last week released nearly $ 20 million in cap space, which would be enough to absorb Watson’s 2021 cap, and the Panthers plan to race Watson if the Texans make it available in a deal, David ESPN’s Newton reports. The formulation of the report – the Panthers will run to Watson if the Texans make it available – is almost identical to a previous report that the Broncos will make an offer for Watson if the Texans make it available. This suggests that several teams are waiting for the Texans to say that Watson is negotiating, and then they will pull the trigger for a big offer when and if the Texans give their approval.
But if you want Watson and think you can make a reliable offer for him, why wait? Why not call the Texans now and say that you are willing to participate in a significant number of choices and / or players in the draft to obtain Watson? The worst Texans can say is no. At best, your team can begin the process of acquiring one of the best NFL quarterbacks.
Watson wants to be negotiated, and Texans are saying publicly that they will not negotiate. But there is probably some commercial package good enough for Texans to make the move. Teams like Broncos and Panthers seem ready to make these offers.
