In the split state championship match in South Carolina, Palmetto Aquatics broke two state relay records for 15-16 boys.

Will Humphreys, Darden Tate, Caleb Bailey and Brett Bailey combined to go 3: 29.88 on the 400 medley relay. This took 4.3 seconds off the old 3: 34.23 state mark. Humphreys had 53.14 on his back, Tate 58.08 on his chest, Caleb Bailey 52.19 on the fly and Brett Bailey 46.47 on freedom.

The same quartet did 3: 09.61 on the 400 free relay, breaking the 12-year state record for more than four seconds. Tate was 47.37 in the lead, followed by Humphreys (47.25), Caleb Bailey (48.49) and Brett Bailey (46.50).

Humphreys is 16, but the other three are still only 15 and are in the youngest age group.

The Greenville team led the team’s scoring in the Upper game, while the South Carolina Swimming Club dominated the Lower game. If the results are to be combined for a complete state championship, the combined results are not yet available.

The South Carolina Swim Club had the best scorers from 11 to 12 swimmers: Sydney Fennell on the side of the girls and Finn Routhier on the boys’ side. They also led the 16-year-old open division Kate Green and 15 years old Jack Jonas.

Fennell won 11-12 50 at 31.86. Routhier won the men’s event at 31.70, plus 11-12 100 at 1: 09.83 and 50 fly at 30.58. Green won the open 100 back with 1: 00.39 and the 200 back with 2: 09.99. Jonas won the 500 free with 4: 54.93, the 200 back at 2: 00.40 and the 100 back with 55.50.
