A Florida county is trying to find a way to end its contract with one of President Trump

County Assistant Lawyer Howard Falcon said The Palm Beach Post said an unidentified county commissioner on Wednesday asked him if it was possible for the county to terminate its lease with the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach.
“My initial reaction is that it would be overkill,” said Falcon, according to the Post. The Trump Organization pays $ 88,338 a month to rent the property in Florida.
A Trump golf course lawyer said “there would be no basis for canceling the rent,” according to the news source.
The contract between President Trump and the county does not contain a “bad boy” clause, according to Falcon. A “bad boy” clause allows a contract to be canceled if there is a misbehavior of the principle that is established in the contract. This behavior typically includes fraud or criminal issues, according to the Post.
Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach has been used to play golf with foreign diplomats and members of Congress and its administration.
The county is seeking to terminate the contract after the Capitol riots last Wednesday that left five dead, including a Capitol police officer.
