The Fathers saw glimpses of Adrian Morejón that they believed was coming.
Unfortunately for them, what overshadowed everything that could happen on Monday night at Petco Park was that they saw Fernando Tatis Jr. leaving.
Tatis left the game against the San Francisco Giants in the third round with a partially dislocated left shoulder.
The Giants made three solo home runs to beat the Padres 3-2. It was nowhere near the most painful loss of the night.
Dr. David Chao, an orthopedic surgeon who correctly identified the injury hours before the Fathers announced a subluxation of the shoulder, said Tatis is likely to require arthroscopic surgery for a lip rupture. Chao, who has served as a Chargers doctor for nearly 20 years, said it is possible that Tatis will continue to play and postpone the surgery if the tear does not worsen on Monday. The surgery would end its season, as it usually requires a six-month recovery.
After a violent strike on strikeout, Tatis immediately fell to the floor in front of the sign and stood there for a full minute, on his knees with his head down almost on the floor while he shivered in pain.

“It’s nothing that I think people should be concerned about or worry about,” said Tatis on the eve of the season’s opening. “I feel in a great place and I feel 100 percent.”
Tatis had 0 out of 2 on Monday and 3 out of 18 this season. He entered the season with a batting average of 0.301 and 0.956 OPS and on Sunday made the 40th home run of his career.
“Maybe this is bothering you more than we realize,” said Tingler on Monday night.
Rookie Ha-seong Kim replaced Tatis on the shortstop.
Had it not been for Tatis’s downfall, the Fathers might have appreciated Morejón’s performance a little more.
It was only the fact that his place came up in the squad, with the tie in second base in the fourth round, which prevented Morejón from increasing his career highlights in turns and pitches.
The 22-year-old, who had never gone more than three innings or thrown more than 46 shots in a major league game, allowed homers to Darin Ruf in the second entry and Evan Longoria in the fourth.
