Packers, Rams have rich stories in the divisional playoff round

Both also saw their share of the Dallas Cowboys at this stage, with five Packers and five Rams clashes against the same team.

But the similarities end there.

Of the 17 Packers performances, 15 have taken place since 1990, while of the 14 Rams performances, only five have taken place in the last 30 years.

For Green Bay, the success streak obviously coincides with the Brett Favre-Aaron Rodgers era as a defender, leading to the Super Bowls after the 96, 97 and 2010 seasons. Since 1993, the longest period that the Packers have spent without reaching the divisional round is three years (1998-2000 and 2004-06).

For LA, it had two separate strong runs – six appearances in the 1970s, with the last one in 79 finally resulting in a spot in the Super Bowl, and another four from 99 to 2003 in the Kurt Warner era, taking two more Super Bowls. The Rams’ most recent appearance in 2018 preceded another trip to the Super Bowl, but came in the wake of a 13-year drought to get this far (2005-17).
