Packers free up more space by restructuring Billy Turner’s contract

The Green Bay Packers freed up more space by restructuring striker Billy Turner’s contract, according to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network.

The restructuring is a salary conversion, by Pelissero, which means that the Packers are transforming a base salary or on-call bonus into a signature bonus, allowing the team to ratify the money over the life of the deal and save money on ceiling this season.

Like Adrian Amos, Turner’s four-year contract still has two more years to go. The Packers transformed the $ 1.5 million Amos list bonus this year into a subscription bonus, creating $ 750,000 of maximum space in 2021 and adding $ 750,000 to the limit in 2022. Something similar was probably done with the Turner business .

Turner has a base salary of $ 4,525,000 and a $ 1,000,000 list bonus this year. The Packers could create $ 500,000 of limit savings in 2021, transforming their list bonus into a subscription bonus.

Versatile member of the offensive line, Turner has been playing left, right and right guard for the past two seasons at Green Bay.

Turner’s restructuring is the latest in a long list of moves by the Packers to fall below the 2021 salary cap. The team freed Christian Kirksey and Rick Wagner and restructured the businesses of Amos, David Bakhtiari and Preston Smith.

Depending on the type of restructuring, it is possible that work in the Turner business will leave Packers below the limit.

The Packers have yet to do anything with the Aaron Rodgers, Za’Darius Smith or Davante Adams contracts. And Dean Lowry is a casualty contender.
