Packers ‘could be at stake’ for veteran free agent WR TY Hilton

The Green Bay Packers may be keeping an eye on a veteran wide receiver at a free agency.

According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano, the Packers and the Miami Dolphins “may be at stake” for free agent receiver TY Hilton, signaling the expected interest of the two teams when the league’s new year begins on Wednesday .

Four times as a Bowler, Hilton is joining the free agency after picking up 56 passes for 762 yards and five touchdowns with the Indianapolis Colts in 2020. He has five seasons of receiving 1,000 yards in his career, although he has been kept below 800 yards each one of the last two years.

Packers may be looking for cheap veteran options at the free agency, including the wide receiver. With more than 30 years and declining production, Hilton is unlikely to be an expensive player in 2021, possibly giving the Packers a chance to add an experienced veteran capable of giving the attack something new alongside Davante Adams, Allen Lazard and Marquez Valdes- Scantling on the receiver.

Hilton, who turned 32 in November, played 15 games last season, after only 10 in 2019.

Hilton hit 60.2 percent of his targets and averaged 8.2 yards per target for the Colts in 2020. He produced five reception touchdowns, giving him at least five scores in eight of his first nine NFL seasons. .

Pro Football Focus ranked Hilton as the 22nd best receiver by overall rating in 2020.

The veteran receiver played most of his snaps as a perimeter receiver last season, but he can operate in the slot.

Hilton managed three 36-yard passes in the Colts’ victory over the Green Bay Packers in 2020. In eight games, he produced more than 50 receiving yards.

Hilton will be an unrestricted free agent. The period of legal adulteration – when teams and players can agree on new business terms – starts on Monday.
