PA COVID: Tracking the status of vaccine supply in the suburbs of Philadelphia

NORRISTOWN, Pennsylvania (WPVI) – If you are trying to get the COVID-19 vaccine in suburban counties in Philadelphia, you may feel frustrated.

Currently, the entire Pennsylvania Community is receiving an average of 175,000 doses per week from the federal government for about 12 million Pennsylvania residents. Many in southeastern Pennsylvania are feeling the impacts of scarcity.

In Delaware County, the mass vaccination site in Yeadon remains closed due to a lack of vaccine supplies.

“I think we asked for 3,000; I think we got 1,200. I mean, we could do that in two days, ”said Delaware County Council President Brian Zidek.

However, he says his Aston website at the Aston Community Center is open by appointment only, but there are 24 other local vaccine suppliers in the county, such as pharmacies and doctor’s offices that offer doses. County officials have no control over these locations or how many doses they receive.

You must also register online for each location on their respective web pages. The county has them listed on its COVID-19 information website.

“If we could wave a magic wand, we would have a centralized reserve that would attract all records, but there is no such system,” said Zidek.

In Montgomery County, they had to close their county-administered vaccination site at Norristown High School. They also don’t have enough vaccines.

In Bucks County, they are operating clinics on their three community college campuses. However, right now the Newtown Campus is waiting for more vaccines to become operational.

“We are almost done with first aid; all health professionals. We started vaccinating 85 years or more yesterday, ”said Diane Marseglia, Bucks County Commissioner.
