Overwatch Fan reveals realistic versions of the game’s heroes

The heroes of Overwatch proved to be one of the game’s biggest attractions, inspiring a little passion in its fan community. Part of this has taken the form of art, and the Reddit user _m0us316_ is no exception; using the online tool Artbreeder, they were able to create realistic looking shots for 27 of the game’s current playable heroes! Although some of the heroes seemed more faithful to their appearance in the game than others, it is an impressive achievement overall, and fans of the Blizzard game should definitely take a look at what _m0us316_ was able to do with the online tool!

Images of the heroes can be found in the Reddit post embedded below.

My attempt to make “realistic” portraits on most of the Overwatch list using Artbreeder. (Note: features may be missing, such as scars, tattoos, etc.) from r / Overwatch

Of course, the above post is missing some notable heroes from the game. There are 32 playable characters in the game at the time of writing, and not all of them are humanoids. Notably absent are heroes like Winston and Wrecking Ball, as it can be a little strange to see pictures of a gorilla and a hamster included with all these realistic images. Likewise, the heroics Bastion, Orisa and Zenyatta, understandably, did not make the cut. However, the other 27 heroes are all there and look quite impressive! Although _m0us316_ does not include labels for each hero, fans of the game shouldn’t have a hard time figuring out which character is which.

Interestingly, _m0us316_ may have to add another portrait to this set at some point in the near future, as Blizzard is currently provoking the addition of the game’s next hero. Earlier this month, Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan has hinted that the Kanezaka map may have hints about the next hero to enter the game. Fans believe this will be a hero in partnership with a fox, but details remain scarce at this point. A full reveal is likely to take place at BlizzCon in February.

Overwatch is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. You can check out all of our previous coverage of the game here.
