Outriders remove great resource as servers struggle

The servers of Outriders having fallen regularly since the game’s release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, Google Stadia and Xbox Game Pass this week. At the moment, it is not known when the game will improve in this respect, but what is said is the removal of one of the greatest features of the game. If you’re wondering why the cross game is not available, it’s because People Can Fly and Square Enix had to partially remove the option from the game due to a seemingly unforeseen problem.

At the time of publication, cross-play is available in all capacities. Console players can play with console players and Steam players can play with players from the Epic Games Store, but that’s about it. In other words, what cannot be done is cross-play connecting console players to PC players and vice versa

According to People Can Fly, the top of the problem is a de-synchronization problem that results in a back-end incompatibility, which in turn causes players to be kicked out of sessions. What is causing this problem, People Can Fly does not disclose, but notes that it is treating the problem “with the highest priority” and that it is working on patches to remedy carelessness. In other words, removal has nothing to do with ongoing server problems and should be addressed in the next updates.

“We found a lack of synchronization between the code of the PC and the console,” writes People Can Fly about the problem. “This results in a back-end incompatibility that causes players to be kicked out of a multiplayer game that includes both console and PC players. We are treating this issue with the highest priority and are working on patches that will sync all platform code, which will solve these problems. “
