Ori director apologizes for previous criticism of developers from Fable, No Man’s Sky and Cyberpunk

Thomas Mahler is breaking the news this week. The Game Director for Ori and the blind forest and Ori and the Will of the Wisps offered strong criticism to “snake oil sellers” on Wednesday via ResetEra, specifically targeting Peter Molyneux, Nobody’s heaven and Cyberpunk 2077.

As you can imagine, this led to quite a heated debate. Given that Will of the Wisps suffered notably from performance issues at launch, he was accused of hypocrisy in various sectors and criticized for a “reductive” point of view.

Since then, however, Mahler has apologized. Releasing a declaration via Twitter yesterday, he went back on his previous comments and admitted that he “blew it”:

My intention was definitely not to hurt anyone, but to offer a starting point for a discussion on the current issues the industry is facing. We all share a common love for this art form and we must always maintain respect for each other. And I was not yesterday.

Was Mahler right to apologize? Do you agree with his original points or did he make a mistake this time? Let us know below.
