The Oregon Health Authority held a press conference on Friday to provide an update on the COVID-19 vaccine for Oregon.
This happened after operators of the mass vaccination site COVID-19 at the Oregon Convention Center announced that snow will force it to close on Friday and Saturday. The decision to open the site on Sunday has not yet been made.
A large vaccination post at Portland International Airport is also closed on Saturdays and Sundays.
About 6,000 residents of the area were scheduled to be vaccinated at the Convention Center on Friday and Saturday. The team will contact everyone who has had commitments to reschedule them for another date, said Brian Terrett, a spokesman for Legacy Health, which is operating the site with other regional health providers.
Friday’s press conference included comments from Patrick Allen, director of the Oregon Health Authority, and Dr. Dean Sidelinger, state public health officer and epidemiologist.
