Oregon’s Aleah Goodman overturns the state of Florida in the first round of the NCAA women’s basketball tournament, advances to face South Carolina

Oregon State opened its NCAA women’s tournament journey with a dominant explosion.

Aleah Goodman had 24 points, five rebounds and five assists and Taylor Jones had 18 points and eight rebounds to lead the number 8 of the Beavers in the 83-59 thrashing against 9th Seminoles in the first round game in the Hemisfair region at Strahan Arena in San Marcos, Texas, Sunday night.

After a first quarter of 16-16, Oregon State (12-7) took over in a second quarter of 25-11 and never looked back.

Goodman scored nine of his points in the second to help OSU hit 11 out of 15 on the field and dominate the tables 13-5. FSU was only 4 to 17 on the field in the second quarter.

Bianca Jackson had 17 points and Kourtney Weber and Tiana England had 11 for Florida State (10-9), who hit 7 out of 13 in the third, but was still beaten by OSU (8 out of 15).

Sasha Goforth scored nine of her 14 points in the second half for the Beavers, who advance to face South America’s number one (23-4) in the second round on Tuesday.
