Oregon state security guard David Morris ends his college football career with a medical retirement

David Morris of Oregon State, a junior security guard who showed significant results when healthy, left the program after retiring clinically.

An OSU official confirmed the news to The Oregonian / OregonLive. Morris, who started seven games and made 75 tackles as a freshman in 2017, played just one game last season.

Morris, a Sherwood High graduate, was an immediate success at Oregon State, but he spent as much time on the sidelines as on the field during a four-year career because of injuries.

Morris missed most of the 2018 season due to several foot injuries. In 2019, Morris played 10 games, but started only in six due to a hamstring problem. Last season, Morris played in his debut against Washington State, then went to the sideline in the remaining six games because of injuries and the COVID-19 protocol.

Over the course of four years, Morris played 24 games, starting with 14. He made 120 tackles, had an interception and forced two fumbles. Morris already had a performance of 17 tackles in a loss to Minnesota during the 2017 season.
