Oregon State defeated by South Carolina’s first place in the NCAA women’s tournament: recap of live updates

Oregon State struggled to find its shot and to deal with South Carolina’s defense on Tuesday, when eighth-placed Beavers lost 59-42 in the second round of the NCAA women’s tournament in San Antonio.

The Beavers were looking for their fifth consecutive appearance on Sweet 16, but South Carolina started to pull away in the second quarter and Oregon State never managed to significantly cut the double-digit lead after that.

Gamecocks led 30-18 at the break and rose to 26 at the end of the third quarter.

Oregon State (12-8) hit just 31.6% and hit just 3 out of 19 three points (15.8%). Taylor Jones led the Beavers with 13 points, while Aleah Goodman added 10 points and six assists.

Aliyah Boston finished with 19 points and seven rebounds for South Carolina (24-4), who are advancing to play fifth place in the Georgia Tech ranking on Sweet 16 this weekend.

The Gamecocks hit just 1 of 15 trios, but overtook Oregon State by 50-33 and dropped 14 offensive plates.
