Oregon reports 2 more COVID-19 deaths, 234 new cases

Deschutes County has only 7 new cases; none in Crook counties, Jefferson

PORTLAND, Oregon. (KTVZ) – There are two new COVID-19-related deaths in Oregon, increasing the state’s death toll to 2,298, the Oregon Health Authority reported on Monday.

The Oregon Health Authority reported 234 new confirmed and presumed cases of COVID-19 at 12:01 am on Monday, bringing the state total to 157,515.

FEMA grants $ 110 million to Oregon for vaccination

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has provided $ 110 million in federal funding to assist the Oregon Health Authority and partners in the operation of dozens of COVID-19 vaccination centers across the state.

Vaccination centers supported by FEMA will be able to administer more than 2 million vaccines during the 90-day operational period. The schedules are still under review.

Grants for emergency protection measures are financed through the FEMA Public Assistance Grant Program, which reimburses communities for actions taken to respond to and recover from a disaster. FEMA’s reimbursement is paid directly to the Oregon Emergency Management Office, which then makes disbursements to local and tribal jurisdictions and state agencies that incurred the costs.

Vaccinations in Oregon

The OHA reported that 21,793 new doses of COVID-19 vaccinations were added on Monday to the state’s immunization registry. Of that total, 12,853 doses were administered on Sunday and 8,940 on previous days, but entered the vaccine record on Sunday.

Cumulative daily totals can take several days to complete because providers have 72 hours to report administered doses and technical challenges have caused many providers to delay reporting. OHA has provided technical support to vaccination sites to improve the opportunity for their data entry into the state’s ALERT Immunization Information System (IIS).

Oregon has administered a cumulative total of 1,163,828 first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccines. To date, 1,420,125 doses of the vaccine have been delivered to locations across Oregon.

The St. Charles Health System reported 31,880 COVID-19 vaccinations given as of 4 am on Monday.

These data are preliminary and are subject to change. OHA panels provide regularly updated vaccination data, and the Oregon panel was updated on Monday.

COVID-19 Hospitalizations

The number of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 across Oregon is 119, three more than on Sunday. There are 33 patients with COVID-19 in intensive care unit (ICU) beds, one less than on Sunday.

The total number of patients in hospital beds may fluctuate between reporting times. The figures do not reflect hospitalizations per day, nor the length of hospital stay. Personnel limitations are not captured in this data and can further limit the capacity of beds.

St. Charles Bend reported eight patients with COVID-19 until 4 am on Monday, one of whom was in the ICU and on a ventilator.
