Oregon basketball continues to improve NCAA tournament projections

With the regular season now over, the Oregon Duck men’s basketball program will have a limited number of chances to further improve its NCAA Tournament curriculum. The Ducks will go to the Pac-12 Tournament this week knowing that they have improved that curriculum a lot in the past few weeks.

In the latest updates from Jerry Palm of CBS Sports and Joe Lunardi of ESPN, the Ducks took a big leap after winning the Pac-12 regular season championship on Sunday night.

Listed as seed # 11 just a week ago, the Ducks are now listed as seed # 7 in Palm’s CBS Sports projections. Oregon would face Louisville’s number 10 in the first round. The winner of that game would face the winner between runner-up Iowa and runner-up 15 in Georgia.

Lunardi had Oregon as a double-digit seed for two weeks, but it gradually increased the profile of the Ducks as they won more and more victories. After winning Pac-12 on Sunday, Lunardi jumped on the Ducks again. Oregon is now listed as the No. 6 seed on ESPN’s projections. Oregon would face number 11 in the state of Wichita. The winner of that game will play the winner between Arkansas number 3 and Morehead State number 14.

The Ducks will play at least one more game before the NCAA tournament starts later this month. The Ducks won a goodbye in the Pac-12 Tournament and will face the winner of the 8th place game in the state of Arizona against 9th in the state of Washington. The Ducks will play Thursday at 11:30 am PT and the game will be played by Pac-12 Networks.
