Operation of cultivation of marijuana burned in fire in southern Los Angeles

GREEN MEADOWS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) – An apparent marijuana growing operation caught fire in the South Los Angeles area during a major fire on Saturday afternoon.

About 170 firefighters from the Los Angeles Fire Department were dispatched to fight the flames at block 8700 on South Crocker Street in the Green Meadows neighborhood.

The intense flames kept the firefighting teams in a defensive position.

At first, the 300-by-300-storey one-story office building appeared to be a furniture manufacturing company, but firefighters discovered that it was actually hosting a marijuana growing operation.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
