Onondaga County reported 72 new cases of Covid-19 today, along with two deaths.
County executive Ryan McMahon said there are currently 72 individuals in hospitals across the county, with 12 in the ICU.
“Unfortunately, we lost two neighbors, a 61-year-old man and a resident of an institution for the elderly,” he said.
On Saturday, McMahon said nine people were in intensive care at area hospitals because of Covid-19, the lowest level since November 18, according to data from Onondaga County. He also reported another death.
To date, the county has exceeded more than 31,000 cases of Covid-19 since the start of the pandemic, according to the latest county data.
This means that about 1 in 15 people in the county have tested positive for coronavirus in the past 11 months.
Since the start of the pandemic, 657 people have died and 31,104 cases have been confirmed, according to the county.
