OnePlus Watch gets an early reveal ahead of the March 23 announcement

OnePlus’ long-awaited first smartwatch made its first appearance before the company’s launch event on March 23, which is looking increasingly irrelevant, as almost all news about its new product line arrives online in pieces.

Fully revealed for the first time by Unbox Therapy, the OnePlus watch with a creative name doesn’t seem to innovate much when it comes to smartwatch design. Two buttons are visible on the right side of the watch (notably, there is no scroll wheel in the crown style) on a normal-looking watch. Also interesting are what appear to be standard watch bands, instead of the proprietary bands that are popular with companies like Apple and Fitbit.

The image also gives a first look at the new Watch operating system, which OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed in a forum post is no running Wear OS, but instead of an RTOS-style operating system. Lau’s post also promises “perfect connectivity” for phones, headsets and OnePlus TVs and an “affordable price point”.

Smartphone pourer Ishan Agarwal also revealed more specific details about the specifications of the OnePlus Watch claiming that it will measure 46 mm, will have IP68 water resistance and a version of the OnePlus Warp Charge system (promising a week of battery life with a charge of 20 minutes). It will also have 4 GB of storage and the ability to see notifications, incoming calls and automatically detect workouts.

Agarwal also says that the watch will be able to track sleep, stress, blood oxygen saturation and heart rate – which may correspond to the four colored bars seen on the watch face in the Unbox Therapy image.
