OnePlus Smartwatch coming March 23

We know about the OnePlus smartwatch for what seems like forever, but the wait for its release is finally almost over.

OnePlus posted a teaser on his Twitter account, confirming that it will launch the product on March 23. The teaser video shows some comments from the OnePlus community calling for its release with the caption “You asked. You are doing it”

The teaser also shows some glimpses of the watch itself.

It looks like we have a round face and a textured strip. But anything other than that is just speculation at this point.

It is also likely to run Wear OS – although this is not confirmed either.

In an interview with Input Mag last year, CEO Pete Lau confirmed the existence of a OnePlus smartwatch and talked about the work the company was doing with Google.

“Wear OS definitely has room for improvement. What we’re trying to do is work with Google to try to improve connectivity between the Wear OS ecosystem, Android TV and Android smartphones to create this capability for better device interoperability across ecosystems, ”he said.

“This has been viewed very positively from the side of Google as well, so this is the direction that we are trying to develop, but we don’t have more than we can share about it right now.”

The OnePlus smartwatch was first announced in 2014, but the project was shelved as interest in smartwatches cooled. Now the market is heated again, with smartphone makers like Oppo, Xiaomi and Huawei making progress.

Huawei has managed to become the second largest manufacturer of smartwatches in global sales – and given that the Apple Watch has 50% of the market, but can only be used by iOS devices, there is still a lot of market to win.

We will bring you all the details on March 23rd.
