Wireless charging has never been a priority for OnePlus, but the company finally listened to user demand including the feature on its next-generation OnePlus 8 Pro last year. Now, for the OnePlus 9 series, it looks like the non-Pro model will also adopt the feature.
One of our biggest complaints about the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8T was the seemingly pointless decision to omit wireless charging from these devices, even though OnePlus finally adopted the feature. Fortunately, OnePlus is correcting this this time, at least according to some photos taken by 91Mobiles.
Seen below, these photos of what is claimed to be the standard OnePlus 9 tell us a few things. On the one hand, the standard OnePlus 9 will have wireless charging as evidenced by alternating quick “reverse charge” settings. The other image shows the phone “charging wireless”. The report also says that the same 30W wireless charging of the OnePlus 8 Pro will be supported here along with the 65W charging of the OnePlus 8T.
The report also mentions that the phone will offer a 4,500 mAh battery, an increase over the OnePlus 8 as well.
Finally, we can also clearly see in these photos that the standard OnePlus 9 will have a flat screen – thank goodness.
It is unclear whether wireless charging will also be compatible with the “OnePlus 9 Lite”, more budget-oriented, but in any case, we are happy to see that OnePlus is no longer unnecessarily retaining this feature.
