The OnePlus 8 Pro was the company’s first and only wireless charging device, but that is about to change. Next year’s OnePlus 9 series will offer more wireless charging, including an upgrade to 45W speeds.
Max Jambor reports on Voice that the OnePlus 9 Pro will ship with 45W charging, an increase of 50% over last year’s already impressive OnePlus 8 Pro and 30W charging. While the details of this new technology are unclear, it will likely require a new charging dock compared to last year’s option, as well as some additional cooling enhancements.
Notably, too, the OnePlus 9 Pro will almost certainly adopt the 65W wired charging that first arrived on the OnePlus 8T, which means that any way you charge this device, it will be at considerable speed.
Max also confirms a previous rumor that the standard OnePlus 9 will adopt wireless charging, resolving one of the few major complaints we had about OnePlus 8. from last year. It is unclear what speed it will support, however. He also says the device will support reverse wireless charging, just as the OnePlus 8 Pro did.
