‘OnePlus 9 Lite’ can be an economical model with Snapdragbon 865

The OnePlus 9 series is scheduled to debut in March, probably with the company’s first smartwatch as well. This will be the company’s first launch to include three models, and we are now getting more information about the “budget” OnePlus 9 model.

As smartphone prices have soared in recent years, more manufacturers in 2020 have made a point of offering some simplified models. A notable success in this was the extremely popular Galaxy S20 FE, which still retained a chip and cutting-edge features, but abandoned some of the exaggerated specifications and unnecessary design choices.

Going into 2021, it looks like the OnePlus will do almost the same thing. The OnePlus 9E was reported earlier this year, but it could actually end up being “OnePlus 9 Lite”, according to Android Central. While the name is in debate, the latest report states that this device will offer a Snapdragon 865 processor. That was the flagship chip of 2020, which will be replaced this year by the Snapdragon 888. It is almost guaranteed that the rest of the OnePlus 9 series will use the 888, but the 865 it would still offer much more power than the Snapdragon 765, or even the successor to that chip.

It will be interesting to see how the chip selection is reflected in the final price of this device. Android Central speculates that the device could arrive for around $ 600, which would be a good price to get it right, even if the phone probably doesn’t have an IP rating or wireless charging.

The only confusing part here, however, is what will happen to the OnePlus 8T in this scenario. It seems very likely that the “OnePlus 9 Lite,” or whatever the name of this budget-focused model is, will be almost identical to the OnePlus 8T that cost $ 749. In previous years, OnePlus would have only kept that model for sale, but it seems not this time.
