Despite having a reasonably manageable portfolio, OnePlus is struggling to provide the latest updates for its core devices. The OnePlus 8T, the company’s latest offering, only obtained the January security patch in February and has not received a single Open Beta update since its launch in October – until now.
The first beta does not feature any new features, but focuses exclusively on optimizing certain aspects of the software. For example, the frame rate stability and the gaming experience are supposed to have been improved. Other optimizations include animations in the weather app and the layout of the cloud service in the Gallery app. The February security patch also comes with the update.
Changelog
- System
- Optimized the display of the status bar UI
- Optimized frame rate stability and improved your gaming experience
- Optimized the community homepage with more visible notifications
- Android security patch updated to 2021.02
- Climate
- Optimized animations for sunny and cloudy days for a clearer dynamic display
- Gallery
- Optimized the cloud service layout in the Gallery for a better operating experience
As this is an open Beta, the experience should be quite stable and you can consider installing it on your daily driver. There are two different versions available, one for the Indian variant and one for the global variant, which can be installed via the “local update” option in the system update settings.
If you find bugs, you can download the rollback package available on the forum page, but keep in mind that doing so will erase your phone data.
