For phone owners of the OnePlus 7 and 7T series, the wait for the OxygenOS 11 update based on Android 11 was endless. Yesterday we got a step closer, however, as OnePlus launched the third Open Beta for the next version of the software, featuring a pair of identical changelogs loaded with bug fixes and bringing us one step closer to a stable version.

The complete changelog for OxygenOS 11 Open Beta 3 in the 7 and 7T series is below:

  • System
    • Optimized the animation unlock effect
    • Fixed the issue of slow loading rate in some cases
    • Fixed the issue of delay when playing videos recorded on the screen
    • Fixed a small probability of failure with Double Tap to Wake
    • Fixed the issue that Netflix did not play HD videos
  • Bluetooth
    • Fixed the silent issue when the Bluetooth transport protocol is changed to AptX
  • Network
    • Improved the stability of the Wi-Fi connection and reduced interruptions on the Internet

Among the changes included are a fix for HD video playback on Netflix, improved loading speeds under certain circumstances, AptX Bluetooth audio fixes and better Wi-Fi stability. OnePlus also notes that there is currently a bug with the screen feature always active that increases energy consumption beyond what you would expect when it is enabled, but a correction is expected in an upcoming release.

The company also notes that the update is not yet available for the OnePlus 7 or 7T, although they “will follow soon”.

The latest OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro series also received a new Open Beta update with a minor changelog, including February security patches and some minor improvements.

  • System
    • Adjusted the emergency rescue layout on the password lock screen
    • Fixed the issue that the Horizon light had a small chance of not turning on
    • Android security patch updated to 2021.02
  • Camera

OnePlus has only a vague timeline for when a Stable OxygenOs 11 launch will land for the 7 and 7T series. The phones originally had a data decryption problem that delayed development at the end of last year, but we are slowly approaching each release of the Open Beta. Earlier today, OnePlus Nord picked up its Android 11 update, and older OnePlus phones got a taste of OxygenOS 11 through the launcher update that launched in January.
