One thing to know about each team in second place in women’s basketball revealed

The NCAA DI Women’s Basketball Committee has revealed its second top 16 teams for the NCAA tournament, as of now, and we have seen some changes since the first revelation on February 15.

Here’s a notable thing you should know about each team with the selection Monday coming up:

# 1 Seeds – UConn, Stanford, Texas A&M and South Carolina

1. UConn – The Big East regular season champions have overtaken their conference opponents to a record 17-0 and will face Marquette in her last conference game on March 1. The Huskies also secured quality wins over opponents outside the South Carolina and Tennessee conference. UConn’s only loss this season was to Arkansas on January 28.

2. Stanford – The Cardinal had a 10-game winning streak and defeated Arizona 62-48 to become the Pac-12 champion. This after suffering two consecutive defeats against Colorado and UCLA. The Pac-12 title is the first Stanford regular season title in the past seven years.

3. Texas A&M – The Aggies have impressed against the top 25 opponents, with a 9-0 record. On February 28, Texas A&M defeated South Carolina to win its first SEC regular season championship and took first place in the SEC tournament. N’dea Jones also made history in this clash, making it the best rebound of all time for the Aggies.

4. South Carolina – Gamecocks’ dominance comes from within painting and its transitional offense. That’s credit to the South Carolina Big Three – Aaliyah Boston, Zia Cooke and Destanni Henderson. Notably, the teams draw most of their attention to the presence of South Carolina’s lethal paint, ranked second in blocked shots in the country and second in rebounds in the country.

No. 2 Seeds – NC State, Maryland, Arizona and Baylor

5 NC State – NC State had two hiccups – against Virginia Tech and North Carolina – but Wolfpack was able to avenge the defeat against Tar Heels on February 21. Wolfpack is the only team in the country that has the right to boast of taking down two No. 1 teams this season, beating South Carolina and Louisville.

6. Maryland – Terps has a dangerous offensive attack, as it is the country’s No. 1 in offensive scoring, averaging 93.2 points per game. Angel Reese is back on the team after suffering an injury at the beginning of the season and has five Terps on the court, with a double digit point average. Maryland’s attack is led by Ashley Owusu, but any Terp is capable of being the top scorer on any given night.

7. Arizona – Pac-12 opponents face a difficult task when they face Arizona’s defense. Wildcats are No. 1 in Pac-12 in steals, earning 10.3 steals per game. Naismith’s defensive player of the year, semifinalist Aari McDonald, leads the Pac-12 with 2.5 steals per game. Arizona is also among the top 4 blocks in the Pac-12, hitting 4.5 shots per game.

8. Baylor – Bears won their 11th consecutive title of the big 12 of the regular season against Kansas State on February 27. But it hasn’t been an easy road for Baylor. The Bears have faced a lot of adversity this season, facing breaks from COVID-19, a winter storm, a canceled resumption reinforcement against UConn and Iowa State, ending their sequence of 61 consecutive home games. Despite the obstacles, Baylor took the lead with an overall record of 19-2 and 14-1 in 12 great plays.

FIRST TOP 16: 1 thing to know about each team in the women’s top 16 reveals

No. 3 seeds – Louisville, UCLA, Georgia and Indiana

9. Louisville – Since the first revelation of the first 16, the State of Florida has given the Cardinals their second defeat of the season on February 21. That’s credit to the Seminoles, limiting Louisville’s top scorer Dana Evans to 13 points. This is the lowest number of points Evans has scored in the entire season. Louisville was originally the No. 1 team for three consecutive weeks, until ACC opponent NC State defeated them in a top 4 battle on February 1.

10. UCLA – The Bruins managed to finish third in Pac-12 with victories over Stanford and Oregon. UCLA has been plagued by lack of depth on the bench this season, but the Bruins have two of the Pac-12’s top four scorers at Michaela Onyenwere and Charisma Osborne. The pair has an average of 36.3 points.

11. Georgia – Georgia has one of the SEC’s best defenses. Senior guard Que Morison creates pressure around the perimeter, keeping 10 of his 14 SEC opponents below the season average, while pivot Jenna Staiti throws a block party on the painting. She is No. 4 in the country, with 69 shots blocked.

12. Indiana – The Hoosiers have a balanced scoring attack when it comes to their Big Three – Mackenzie Holmes, Grace Berger and Ali Patberg. In fact, Berger leads the country in double doubles and is the only player to have registered three this season. As the No. 2 team at the conference, Indiana is on track to challenge Maryland for the Big Ten regular season title, with two games to go.

No. 4 seeds – Tennessee, Kentucky, Oregon and Arkansas

13. Tennessee – Rae Burrell is Tennessee’s most consistent top scorer, while defensive duo Rennia Davis can unleash an impressive performance in the second half to close clashes. In the last four games, Davis has led the Vols with performances of more than 20 points, with most of his points coming out of the past two quarters. That includes the turn on South Carolina, when she scored 24 points in the second half to secure the turn.

14. Kentucky – Wildcats have a versatile elite player in Rhyne Howard. Howard leads the Wildcats on points, assists and even rebounds per game as a guard. She is also second on the Kentucky statistics sheet for blockages and thefts. We also saw Howard score in clutch moments and activate “Rhyne Time” to end games.

15. Oregon The freshman guard TeHina PaoPao did an incredible job as a general in Oregon, ranking 2nd in Pac-12 and 2nd in the NCAA, behind Paige Bueckers of UConn, with an assist / turnover ratio of 2.40. PaoPao is also ranked No. 2 at the attendance conference, distributing 4.4 per game. The young squad’s potential is limitless with several 3-point weapons around the perimeter and the dominance of Nyara Sabally and Sedona Prince in the painting.

16. Arkansas You have to choose your poison wisely going against the trio of Arkansas stars – Chelsea Dungee, Destiny Slocum and Amber Ramirez. Razorbacks can shoot the lights beyond the arc, hitting the fourth plus 3 point in the country so far. If the 3 is not there, Arkansas is attacking the basket to reach the charity strip, leading the country in free throws. Dungee is Arkansas’ greatest gunner of all time on February 25 against Auburn. She also leads the SEC in points and is the country’s 14th in points per game. She took the Razorbacks to a UConn turnaround, dropping 37 points.
