Oklahoma State beats Baylor to reach Big 12 title game

Thanks to the great performance of freshman Cade Cunningham, the state of Oklahoma achieved a spot in the championship of the big 12.

The Cowboys, after a 25-point Cunningham night, knocked Baylor down 83-74 on Thursday night at the Sprint Center in Kansas City.

The two teams were in a dog fight for most of the competition on Friday, and Baylor had a five-point lead with just under six minutes to go. With just over two minutes left, however, the state of Oklahoma made its stand.

The Cowboys ended the night with a 10-2 run in the last 2:33 of the game, and kept Baylor goalless for more than two minutes in that period to take the win by nine points.

Cunningham lost 25 points in the win while hitting 7 out of 16 on the field. Avery Anderson added 20 points, and Rondel Walker added 11 off the bench. Soft Teague led Baylor with 17 points and six rebounds, and Jared Butler finished with 16 points.

Oklahoma will face Texas in the title game on Saturday. Texas was set to face Kansas in its semifinal game on Thursday night, however, after a positive COVID-19 test. Your .

Baylor must still keep seed # 1

Although the Bears fell short of the conference title game, they must still maintain seed number 1 in the NCAA tournament.

Baylor has only lost twice this season, the first in the hands of Kansas No. 11. That defeat, however, came shortly after a prolonged coronavirus shutdown – and four days after a near defeat for the state of Iowa, which did not win a single game at the conference.

In the meantime, it will undoubtedly depend on how the Big Ten tournament fares – both Illinois and Michigan took first place in the ranking, and Iowa and Ohio held second place in the tournament – the Bears’ place must be safe.
