Oklahoma prison officer taken to hospital after being held hostage, shot and killed

An Oklahoma City prison official was taken to the hospital after being held hostage on the 10th floor of the Oklahoma County Detention Center on Saturday.

Authorities confirmed with Fox News that one of the prisoners who held the prison guard hostage was shot and killed by Oklahoma City police.

Lieutenant Wayland Cubit, of the Oklahoma City Police Department, said the officer was taken to the hospital for treatment, but was unable to confirm the extent of the injuries sustained by the former hostage.

The policeman is believed to have given medicine to an inmate when he was attacked, tied up and his keys were taken from him, according to a local News 9 report.

In a series of videos filmed by one of the perpetrators who holds the police hostage, another man speaks to the camera while looking over his shoulder.

“We can’t take a shower”, the prisoner is heard in front of the cameras saying screams from downstairs.

In another video, the man who films the incident is heard explaining to the police officer “I have nothing to do with it. He is simply a product of the situation.”

Although the policeman appears to be unharmed, at some point the prisoner on camera walks back and forth before reaching the resting position beside the policeman and placing an unidentifiable object on the back of the neck.

The policemen seemed to be monitoring the situation on the floor below.
