Oklahoma health commissioner confirms downward trend in COVID-19 cases

Kendrick said he had doubts that the reduction in new cases of COVID-19 was the result of ongoing vaccinations. Approximately 32,000 of the nearly 3 million oklahoma over 18s received the first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.

From Monday to Wednesday, the state reported between 1,500 and 2,000 new cases of COVID-19 a day – a dramatic drop from the previous week. From January 13 to Sunday, the state reported between 3,000 and 4,000 new cases of COVID-19 per day.

The drop in infections coincides with a recent drop in hospitalizations from the state record of 1,926 patients with COVID hospitalized on January 9.
