Ohio State’s 2021 football opponent, Oregon, lost starting quarterback Tyler Shough to transfer the portal

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Oregon will visit the Ohio State football team on September 11 with one less option as a defender.

Tyler Shough, the holder of the Ducks in all seven games last season, announced on Friday that he will enter the transfer portal.

Shough’s game has regressed over the past season, his first as an Oregon starter. He started the Fiesta Bowl, but was largely replaced by Anthony Brown. The former transfer to Boston College now becomes the likely holder of the Ducks in Shough’s absence.

Oregon’s visit to Columbus in the second game of the season comes as part of an intriguing extension of the opening season to Ohio. The Buckeyes open the season in Minnesota, then play Oregon, Tulsa and Akron at home before resuming the Big Ten game at Rutgers.

Ohio State and Oregon are rated 4 to 5 on ESPN’s preseason SP + rating. The Ducks are one of only three teams in the top 10, both in attack and defense, along with Alabama and Clemson.
