Ohio reports 1,558 new coronavirus cases: Saturday update

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Department of Health reported Saturday afternoon that the state has 1,558 new cases of coronavirus.

The state has not reported any new deaths in the past 24 hours, as the state recently announced that new deaths will no longer be available daily. The status panel will be updated twice a week.

The Ohio Department of Health is counting on the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to track the deaths of Ohio residents, a change in the counting protocol that was announced on Tuesday.

Between 6:00 am on Friday and 6:00 am on Saturday, 43,505 people completed the vaccination.

The total number of people who have completed their vaccine is now more than 1.3 million, representing 11.46 percent of Ohio’s population.

The state follows the Disease Control and Prevention Center’s “case” definition, which includes those diagnosed by genetic PCR or antigen testing, or people diagnosed in a clinical setting – showing symptoms that are linked to a confirmed COVID-19 case. , among other criteria.

More than 119 million people worldwide have or had COVID-19 and more than 2.6 million people died from the deadly virus.

More than 29 million people in the United States have or have had COVID-19, and more than 533,000 people have died from it.
