OG&E confirms the blackout pause; Falling numbers of interruptions

OG&E confirmed to News 9 and News On 6 that blackouts have been stopped for the time being in Oklahoma, mid-Tuesday morning. However, almost 14,000 customers remain without power after 11 am

An OG&E spokesman said:

Southwest Power Pool has notified OG&E that temporary service interruptions are not required at this time. We continue to coordinate with the SPP in case more action is needed. Although temporary service interruptions are not required at this time, the continuation of the expected extreme cold for the region, combined with the high demand for natural gas, increases the potential for the restoration of these short-term service interruptions.

Continue to take steps to reduce the use of natural gas and electricity to minimize future disruptions.

PSO has more than 21,000 customers without power from 11am

The Oklahoma Electric Cooperatives Association reported just over 10,000 customers without power in 11.

Tuesday’s blackouts came after the Southwest Power Pool grid manager declared a Level 3 emergency for its entire 14-state area.

SPP officials said they will work with utility companies to implement controlled electrical service outages across the region.

SPP is asking people to take steps to conserve energy use and follow the instructions from the local utility regarding conservation.
