A new outbreak of COVID-19 has been declared at a glass manufacturing company in Langley, BC

Fraser Health says 44 employees at the facility tested positive for the virus at Vitrum Glass.

The health authority says tests and immunizations were provided on the spot, and those identified as cases and close contacts were instructed to isolate themselves.

Fraser Health says it is using immunizations to control outbreaks and clusters in high-risk work environments as part of an aggressive response to COVID-19.

Further north, the Yukon government is warning of a COVID-19 exposure at Coeur Mining’s Silvertip mine, just south of its border with British Columbia.

He says health officials have been informed about the transmission at the mine, which attracts workers from areas such as the Lower Post, BC, Whitehorse and Watson Lake, Yukon.

“All Yukon and Lower Post workers who have been in the mine since then are being notified individually by the company, their employer or Yukon Communicable Disease Control,” the government said in a statement.

Fraser Health also reported outbreaks at the Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster, BC, and at the Chartwell Carrington House Retirement Residence in Mission, BC, too.
