I do not play Rainbow Six Siege, but Ubisoft’s recent collaboration with Ikumi Nakamura may change my mind.

Nakamura, the creative director who won the heart of the gaming world with her energetic GhostWire: Tokyo presentation at E3 2019, has jumped across the industry as a freelancer since he left ZeniMax Media’s subsidiary, Tango Gameworks Later that year. His latest work is with Ubisoft, specifically on the design of a couple of scary operatorsiforms for Rainbow Six Siege. Much like Nakamura herself, they absolutely rule.

These uniforms, which are already available for purchase, also equip operators Echo and Dokkaebi with corresponding weapon skins and amulets. After a brief reading of the rest of the game’s skins, I can safely say that Nakamura’s contributions are by far the coolest Rainbow Six Siege have you seen.

“As an FPS, I even designed the operators’ nails carefully!” Nakamura wrote on Twitter earlier this week. “Isn’t it nice to dress up on the battlefield every now and then?”

Nakamura also shared some concept sketches from his design time for Rainbow Six Siege. At some point in the process, she even suggested setting Dokkaebi’s face on fire due to the Korean operator’s Japanese name origins, but admitted that such an effect was probably “exaggerated”.

With a curriculum crafting some of the most elegant video games of all time (Okami, Bayonetta, The evil within, et al), it should come as no surprise that Nakamura’s Rainbow Six Siege skins are incredible. I hope that your dream of opening your own studio will be realized sooner or later.
