Oculus is launching multiuser accounts and application sharing next month

The company believes that the resources can help increase domestic use, as well as prevent piracy. She also expects more families to receive multiple Quest devices in the coming years, which is why app sharing will allow the primary account holder to share their purchases across three devices in the future. The company also says it will assess whether it needs to adjust the number of devices and secondary accounts allowed as it receives feedback from its user community.

When app sharing launches next month, however, primary accounts can only enable app sharing on one headset, even if they can sign in on multiple devices at the same time. In addition, secondary accounts cannot share applications with other accounts, even if they are purchases made on that particular Quest. Please note that the only way to change a headset’s primary account is to factory reset.

The company is currently allowing developers to disable application sharing, but any new Rift or Quest applications shipped to the Oculus platform should have the feature as of February 13, 2021.
