Wanting to keep her identity confidential, the woman’s granddaughter says the incident happened on February 3 at about 11 am in the 6th Avenue area with International Boulevard in Oakland.
In the video, a suspect can be seen quickly knocking the 70-year-old woman to the ground while another runs in and steals her purse. According to her granddaughter, the suspects also tried to get her cell phone, but luckily, along with the bank money, it was in her pocket and was not taken away.
The woman’s granddaughter says she is already nervous after a 91-year-old man and two other elderly people were attacked in Chinatown in recent weeks. She plans to file a police report and hopes to raise awareness of crimes against the elderly. She continued to say that her grandmother was hurt, but is recovering from her traumatic experience.
