Third time is the charm!
New York City will begin providing the vaccine to NYPD officers starting on Monday – when the state opens eligibility for the next priority group.
The department’s medical division will begin shooting at Randall’s Island, Rodman’s Neck, Floyd Bennett Field, the Police Academy and Police Station 121 between 6 am and 6 pm, according to a Finest message sent by force.
The commandos will notify the police when they can get the vaccine, the message adds.
The announcement came two days after Governor Andrew Cuomo ended the city’s attempt to put police in line, labeling them medical first aid.
In December, police commissioner Dermot Shea said police officers would be eligible for the vaccine, but state supplies delayed the launch.
The Shea test was positive for the pandemic virus on Friday morning, officials said. Nearly 500 police officers have already hired COVID in 2021, police officials said.
