NYE revelers celebrate in less crowded Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale

HOLLYWOOD, Florida. – Broward County officials hope the coronavirus pandemic curfew will give revelers enough time to celebrate New Year’s Eve with the sea breeze on the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk.

Many traveled from afar to see coastal views from the 3.5-kilometer pedestrian promenade. Authorities estimate that about 940,000 tourists were in Broward County to celebrate.

Samatha Bradford is among Broward County residents who will celebrate New Year’s Eve on Fort Lauderdale beach.

“I am very grateful for the things that are open and I will do my best,” said Bradford.

Fort Lauderdale will have a small fireworks display near City Hall and a virtual celebration with live bands instead of beach shows, the Himmershee Street countdown and the anchor launch.
