NYC to terminate Trump contracts after Capitol insurrection

NEW YORK (AP) – New York City will end commercial contracts with President Donald Trump after last week’s US Capitol insurrection, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Wednesday.

The Trump Organization is under a municipal contract to operate the two ice rinks and a carousel in Central Park, as well as a golf course in the Bronx.

The Trump Organization makes about $ 17 million a year from these sites, said de Blasio.

“I’m here to announce that New York City is terminating all contracts with the Trump Organization,” said de Blasio.

An email asking for comments was sent on Wednesday to the Trump Organization.

It is the latest example of how the January 6 violation by Trump’s violent supporters is impacting the Republican president’s commercial interests.

PGA of America voted on Sunday to take the PGA Championship off its golf course in New Jersey next year, a move that came after social media platforms deactivated Trump’s accounts and Shopify took down online stores affiliated with him .
