Coronavirus vaccination appointments scheduled for Monday were postponed due to the impending snowstorm, Mayor Bill de Blasio announced on Sunday – along with the suspension of face-to-face classes and alternative side parking.
At least 14 to 16 inches of snow are expected to cover New York starting Sunday night and continuing through Tuesday, the mayor predicted during a City Hall press conference.
“Fourteen to sixteen inches would be bad enough,” he said. “It can be much more than that.”
With the storm falling, de Blasio announced that all coronavirus vaccination appointments scheduled for Monday would be rescheduled, with a call for Tuesday’s appointments yet to be made.
“The last thing we want to do is to urge our elderly people to go out in the middle of a storm like this,” he said.
In addition, face-to-face classes in public schools were canceled for Monday, with classes going online.
As with vaccination appointments, no call has yet been made for Tuesday’s classes, said de Blasio.
Alternative side parking has been suspended for Monday and Tuesday, he said.
