NY opens thousands more consultations for Covid-19 vaccines, but booking is a challenge

Syracuse, NY – New York opened tons of new Covid-19 appointments this morning – but scheduling them is a challenge because the demand is so great.

Here are some tips from successful people:

Clear your cache before you begin.

Start with the I am eligible state website. Click on the blue “start” button.

Fill out the eligibility form. This has been a problem for some, as sometimes the screen freezes. Others say that questions about underlying health conditions are not coming up. That’s why it can help to clear your cache and try again. Others say that trying a different browser helped.

If you go through this, you will see a screen similar to the photo below:

Vaccine consultations Covid-19

This image is from the “Am I Eligible” website in New York. You reach this page after entering your eligibility information. From here, keep updating and clicking on the different vaccine sites. Appointments appear occasionally.Source: New York State

This is the screen to be updated or “updated” frequently and then select a website.

Often, you will get a pink screen that says “Due to the high volume, it is not possible to make appointments at this time for this location”.

This, unfortunately, is a dead end. Close this tab and return to the provider’s location screen (shown above).

Press the update button and repeat.

With luck, you will enter a virtual queue at the vaccine location you selected. Stay on this screen and wait for the clock to count down. This can take up to an hour.

After doing this, click the Continue button.

This should open the page with the appointments. This morning, readers reported being lucky to get appointments in February and March on government-run sites.

And remember, the state has a telephone line for inquiries: 833-697-4829. Although as of 10:50 am today, this line played a message saying that the call volume was high and asked people to call later.
