The Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti has been reconfirmed by another partner card manufacturer. In a statement to the regulatory office of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), detected by VideoCardz, Gigabyte revealed that it has several versions of the 3080 Ti – an updated version of the RTX 3080 – in development.
This follows Asus accidentally leaking its own 3080 Ti models on its own website. Gigabyte has also listed several RTX 3060 models, adding further confirmation that this new mid-range video card is also on the way.
To recap, the 3080 Ti is a high-end GPU that will be between the 3080 and the top 3090. Gigabyte’s product codes seem to back up previous leaks and rumors that the 3080 Ti will have 20 GB of GDDR6X memory, again situated between the 12 GB of the 3080 and the 24 GB of the 3090.
The 3060, curiously, is listed with 12 GB of memory on all Gigabyte models: this is 4 GB more than the 3060 Ti that would fall below the general hierarchy of Nvidia.
Unfortunately, this latest leak reveals nothing more about a possible price or release date for the RTX 3080 Ti. Nvidia is unlikely to want to go much higher than AMD’s $ 999 Radeon RX 6900 XT, although it is certain that it will fall somewhere between $ 700 3080 and $ 1,500 3090.
Hopefully, that would make it a valid compromise for those who want high-quality 4K gaming power without spending more on the 3090’s surplus memory, which is most useful for creative and design work. And speaking of hope, it would be nice if these cards were easier to buy than the 3080s almost permanently sold out.
As for when we can expect to see the 3080 Ti and 3060 in official capacity, Nvidia will host a live game-focused event on January 12th. Don’t expect the new GPUs to go on sale at that time: current reports suggest that at least the 3080 Ti release date will not come before the Chinese New Year on (11-17 February).
