Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., “Has no friends on the Republican side of the hall,” Devin Nunes, R-Calif., A member of the House Intelligence Committee, told Fox News Primetime on Thursday.
Nunes joined host Maria Bartiromo shortly before the House voted to present a resolution proposed by the House minority leader, Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., With the aim of removing Swalwell from the intelligence committee because of his previous calls. with an alleged Chinese spy named Fang Fang.
The two-page resolution – obtained by Fox News – says that Swalwell “has not denied public reports that a suspected Chinese intelligence agent helped raise money for Mr Swalwell’s political campaigns” and “other problematic elements of public reporting”.
McCarthy said he wants other lawmakers to receive the same security briefing he did with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif, which details issues related to Swallwell’s alleged foreign ties.

“There is not much confidence on the Republican side for him …”, said Nunes to Fox News Primetime presenter Maria Bartiromo. “We will be interested to see the Democrats’ opinion on this. It would have been very easy for him to speak up and give everyone all the information.”
Swalwell’s ties to Fang were first revealed by Axios, who reported that Fang helped raise money for his campaign and placed one or more interns in his Congressional office. Republicans argue that a legislator who appears to have been notoriously compromised by a foreign power should not remain on the critical intelligence panel.
Swalwell tweeted in response to McCarthy’s resolution on Thursday, accusing the Republican Party leader of “the new macartism”.
“It’s kind of like his MO, right?” Nunes said. “He attacks with lies and distortions and untruths.”
“Remember that on 17, 18, 19, in the last few days, he called all Republicans in the country and President Trump … some kind of Russian agent,” continued Nunes, “all the time knowing he was selling the Steele dossier that the Democrats had created and released to all the media. And I think it’s one of the old sayings that those who live in glass houses should not throw stones. “

Nunes questioned who could have instructed Swalwell to “publicize this Russian propaganda publicly.
“They are always talking about Russia and Putin, well, we all know that Putin, what he is trying to do is sow discord in the legislative process. So why would you continue to release the dossier, would you continue to talk about Republicans have any ties to the Russians knowing that they are doing Putin a favor? “
