- The Nubia Red Magic 6 series is now official in China.
- Both phones feature 165 Hz AMOLED displays, while the Pro gains up to 18 GB of RAM and 120 W of charging.

More phones are adopting high refresh rate screens, with gaming phones and flagships regularly playing at 120Hz. But Nubia Red Magic 6 is taking that number even higher.
The company announced Red Magic 6 and 6 Pro in China with both displaying 6.8-inch 2,400 x 1,080 AMOLED monitors that can be upgraded up to 165Hz. The screen can also be reduced to 30 Hz to save battery. Joining this cocktail is a 500 Hz ring sampling rate (for single ring, 360 Hz for multitouch), which should improve the phone’s response time during the game.
In addition to the screen, the Red Magic 6 series looks like a solid prospect. It arrives with the Snapdragon 888 chipset attached to at least 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
Power is supplied by a 5.050mAh battery in the standard Red Magic 6 with a 4.500mAh unit in the Pro model. Interestingly, the larger battery is paired with a 66W charge. The Red Magic 6 Pro, however, carries 120W. Nubia notes that this can charge the Pro’s battery from 0% to 50% in five minutes.
For the generation of images, the phones employ a configuration of 64 + 8 + 2MP, with ultra-wide and macro triggers. An 8 MP selfie camera is also at the front.
Other features include the return of the capacitive shoulder buttons, a copper heatsink that is cooled by Nubia’s high RPM fans and a fingerprint sensor on the display. Headphone connectors are also available on both models.
Nubia Red Magic 6 series: Price and availability
Although the Nubia Red Magic 6 line has a global launch later this month, it is now available in China. The standard model in the 8 GB RAM / 128 GB storage configuration sells for 3,799 yuan (~ $ 587). Colorways include Carbon Fiber Black and Cyber Neon.
The Pro 6 starts at 4,399 yuan (~ $ 680) for a 12GB / 128GB flavor. If money isn’t an issue, a transparent 18 GB / 512 GB model is available for a whopping 6,299 yuan (~ $ 1,020).
