Liverpool fans criticized Frank Lampard for his criticism of this season’s game schedule.
Chelsea face a 48-hour gap between the Boxing Day game against Arsenal and the game against Aston Villa on Monday.
In contrast, the Reds have more than 72 hours between a game against West Brom on Sunday and a trip to Newcastle United on Wednesday night.
This led Lampard to counter the fact that some clubs had a preferable schedule.
Still, Reds fans were eager to point out that Lampard was not so vocal when Jurgen Klopp’s team faced similar problems last season.
Lampard said he does not see how the list of games can be considered a level playing field if some teams rest more than others.
“The fact that there are two games in 48 hours is an important point for us because there are other teams that are challenging in the leadership of the League who play two games in three days,” said the Chelsea coach.
“Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool play two games in three days.
“It is counterproductive to the quality of the Premier League, it is a risk for players if they are going to play both games of an elite sport, everyone knows that.

“I know that sometimes the blame can be placed on the broadcasters and I know that together with each other, and that was reversed, it was decided that we would play twice in 48 hours.
“Other teams that are challenging the league leadership play twice in three days, an extra 24-hour recovery.
“I don’t see what a fair playing field is like, I think it’s wrong and it won’t be the best for players to play at their highest level.
“Don’t get me wrong, Aston Villa has the same problem, but I’m just saying that we are not having the rest period that other teams are getting.”
