Nothing calls Teenage Engineering to design the next products

Swedish electronics house Teenage Engineering, best known for its range of beautifully designed audio products, is working with Nothing on its upcoming product launches. Nothing is the new consumer technology brand from former OnePlus executive Carl Pei. Pei says Teenage Engineering is one of the founding partners of Nothing and will drive the aesthetics of design in his new company.

Pei says he has already worked with Teenage Engineering to create a product script “unique and true to the vision of Nothing”. Nothing’s first product is a pair of wireless headphones, scheduled to launch this summer. It will be curious to see what design tips they get from Teenage Engineering’s M-1 headphones.

Nothing says Teenage Engineering co-founder and CEO Jesper Kouthoofd will act as the creative leader and “visionary behind the design world of Nothing”, while Tom Howard, Teenage Engineering’s deputy head of design, will be the head of design at Nothing. “After months of research and development, we are now in a place where I believe we will have something exciting to show the world,” said Kouthoofd.

As a reminder of the types of products Teenage Engineering has launched over the years, take a look at OB-4, a radio / instrument / speaker hybrid that had an infinite loop tape built in, allowing you to manually rewind any thing played on the speaker. There was also its $ 89 mini-synthesizer range with retro Capcom title sounds or the modular synthesizers launched the previous year.

Teenage Engineering has also worked with Ikea on a variety of audio products.
