Material damage was reported, a semi-sideways and the streets flooded as bad weather continued to travel south on Thursday night.

The fire department in High Point, North Carolina, reported structural damage caused by a possible tornado just before 6 pm on Thursday, including destroyed roofs of buildings. Trees and power lines were also cut down.

Images shared on social media showed trees felled and some material damage.

Staff members of WGHP-TV, a FOX TV station located in High Point, evacuated your studio during a broadcast due to the weather.

“I never heard the roof shake like that,” said one, according to a recording posted on Twitter.

A tractor trailer was brought down on Interstate 40, near Burlington, by a possible tornado.

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper declared a state of emergency on Thursday night, predicting bad weather.

In South Carolina, floodwater filled the streets of Charleston after reports that two inches of rain fell in an hour.

Many government offices closed that day and schools dismissed students earlier or switched to online teaching only.

Meanwhile, residents across Alabama and Mississippi were cleaning up amid harrowing stories of survival during a tornado outbreak that destroyed homes, broke trees in half and left debris scattered for miles.
